2013

  • Listed as one of only three global packaging companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 2012/2013 -- Sonoco's fourth consecutive listing
  • Received two Golden Cylinder Awards for flexible packaging innovations from the Gravure Association of America (GAA) -- one for the fllexible stand-up pouches produced by Sonoco for LEGO Group's Hero Factory toy lines, which received GAA's "Best of the Best" recognition in the Packaging Category; and a Golden Cylinder Award for producing a new rotogravure printed flexible package to help celebrate the 100th birthday of Mondelez International's Oreo® brand
  • Sonoco ranked third in the Packaging and Container sector of Fortune magazine’s 2013 World’s Most Admired Companies
  • Received two Outstanding Marketing at Retail Achievement (OMA) awards for Sonoco's point of purchase displays in the categories of drug store retailer and services and transporations at the 55th Annual Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) competition
  • Named a SAM Gold Class for a third consecutive year in SAM's Sustainability Yearbook 2013, and was also named SAM 2013 Sector Leader in the Containers and Packaging sector.   • Included in the prestigious NYSE Century Index, created to recognize companies that have thrived for over a century, have been listed on the NYSE for 10 years, and have at least $1 billion in market capitalization
  • Named one of the 25 Top Companies for Leaders in North America by Aon Hewitt, The RBL Group and Fortune for a fourth time
  • Named the top ranked packaging company in the 2012 Top 100 Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Magazine
  • Sonoco Plastics thermoforming, including Alloyd Brands, listed sixth in Plastics News annual ranking of North American thermoformers
  • Improved its ranking on FORTUNE's World's Most Admired Companies listing in the Packaging and Container segment in 2011-2012 , moving up from a tie for fifth to fourth

  • Protexic Brands, a Sonoco group, was one of 15 suppliers to receive a Quality & Delivery award from Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (Subaru), for demonstrating excellence in delivery, support and partnership

  • Food and Beverage magazine named Sonoco’s Linearpak® rigid paperboard container for Target’s Archer Farms® cereal a category buster.
  • Named the “SAM Sector Mover” in the Container and Packaging Sector for achieving the largest year-over-year sustainability performance improvement of the companies in the sector’s top 15%. Also awarded the SAM Bronze Class status for attaining a total score within 5% ofthe SAM Sector Leader.

  • DiversityPlus magazine recognized Sonoco’s Director of Supplier Diversity, Marc Ensign, as one of its 2009 Champions of Diversity. Sonoco, Ensign and his team were honored for quadrupling the Company’s diversity spend in the last five years.
  • Service award supplier Tharpe Robbins presented employees at Sonoco’s Statesville, N.C., point-of-purchase facility with a 2009 Award of Excellence for Outstanding Partnership. Only 10 of Tharpe Robbin’s 900 suppliers receive the award each year.
