2016

  • Fortune recognized Sonoco as one of its World’s Most Admired Companies in the packaging sector. Sonoco ranked first in Financial Soundness and second in Innovation, People, Social Responsibility and Quality of Products/Services, and second overall in the packaging sector.
  • Sonoco was recognized with a 2016 PAC Global Leadership GOLD Award for Packaging Innovation and a Gold Achievement Award from the Flexible Packaging Association for its flexible squeeze pouch collaboratively developed for Daisy® brand sour cream.
  • Sonoco was selected to receive the 2015 Innolect Sustainable Legacies® Award. 
  • Sonoco Display and Packaging won four honors at the Point of Purchase Advertising International’s (POPAI) 58th Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards competition: a gold award for work with Chattem, Inc. Allegra®; a silver award for work with InComm Inc.; and two bronze awards for work with Chattem, Inc. and Sam’s Club.
  • The Flexibles division of Sonoco was recognized as the 2015 Supplier of the Year by Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee.

2015

  • Forbes magazine recognized Sonoco on its list of America's Most Trustworthy Companies, 2015.
  • Sonoco was listed on the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI), marking the seventh consecutive year it received the prestigious recognition – the longest consecutive streak of any packaging company currently listed on the index. 
  • Corporate Responsibility Magazine included Sonoco on its 2015 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, for the seventh year. 
  • Sonoco was awarded the Top Corporation Award by the Greater Women's Business Council. 
  • Sonoco Display and Packaging won four awards at the Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) 56th annual Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) Awards competition, including a gold award, two silver awards and a bronze award.
  • Sonoco’s Monterrey Display & Packaging location has been recognized by the government with an Inclusive Company Award and a Family Oriented Company Award. 
  • Sonoco's Brantford paper mill was recognized with a PAPTAC National Business Award for ‘Safety Leadership,’ which recognizes mill leadership excellence and a demonstrated commitment to safety. 
  • Sonoco Display and Packaging was awarded 10 Design of the Times Awards by the Path to Purchase Institute at the 2015 Shopper Marketing Conference & Expo.
  • Sonoco Alloyd was recognized with a WorldStar 2015 Packaging Award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP) for its Whirlpool® Water EveryDrop™ water filter package

2014

  • Included on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 2014/2015 -- Sonoco's sixth consecutive listing
  • Sonoco ranked in the Top 5 of the Packaging and Container sector of FORTUNE magazine’s 2014 World’s Most Admired Companies
  • Named to the 2014 list of North American Top Companies for Leaders® by Aon Hewitt, the global talent, retirement and health solutions company. Sonoco was No. 12 (out of 25) on the 2014 North America list and No. 21 (out of 25) on the Global Aon Hewitt Top Companies for Leaders list. This is the fifth time that Sonoco has earned this prestigious recognition.
  • Received Sherwin-Williams' Certified Supplier Award for achieving the highest level of product quality and performance, and for outstanding customer service, for the fifth consecutive year
  • Sonoco Display and Packaging was awarded four Design of the Times 2014 awards, which honor creative in-store activation tactics and campaigns and recognize their key role in shopper marketing. Sonoco’s awards included a gold award, two silver awards, and a bronze award for work with Unilever and Chattem, Inc.
  • The Cascades Sonoco facility in Tacoma, Wash., U.S., was awarded a prestigious Star Level OSHA certification for Excellence in Occupational Safety and Health. The certification was conducted in connection with OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). 
  • Sonoco Alloyd was recognized with an AmeriStar Packaging Award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IOPP) for its Whirlpool® Water EveryDrop™ water filter package
  • Sonoco Display and Packaging won six awards at the Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) 56th annual Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) competition
  • Sonoco’s resealable, reusable pouch for LEGO Group's Hero Factory toy lines won a Gold Award for Sustainability and Environmental Achievement at the 2014 Flexible Packaging Association Awards
  • Received six Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards for Sonoco's temporary, semi-permanent and permanent point-of-purchase displays at the 56th Annual Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) competition
  • Madico named Sonoco Plastics a 2013-14 Supplier of the Year in their "Supplies and Services" category. Madico selected Sonoco Plastics in recognition of outstanding quality, service, delivery, innovation and capability as a key supply partner

2013

  • Listed as one of only three global packaging companies in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for 2013/2014 -- Sonoco's fifth consecutive listing
  • Received two Golden Cylinder Awards for flexible packaging innovations from the Gravure Association of America (GAA) -- one for the flexible stand-up pouches produced by Sonoco for LEGO Group's Hero Factory toy lines, which received GAA's "Best of the Best" recognition in the Packaging Category; and a Golden Cylinder Award for producing a new rotogravure printed flexible package to help celebrate the 100th birthday of Mondelez International's Oreo® brand
  • Ranked third in the Packaging and Container sector of FORTUNE magazine’s 2013 World’s Most Admired Companies
  • Received two Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards for Sonoco's point-of-purchase displays in the categories of drug store retailer and services and transportations at the 55th Annual Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) competition

  • Service award supplier Tharpe Robbins presented employees at Sonoco’s Statesville, N.C., point-of-purchase facility with a 2009 Award of Excellence for Outstanding Partnership. Only 10 of Tharpe Robbin’s 900 suppliers receive the award each year
