Eliana
Manager
Organizational Development/Talent Management, HR
Before I joined Sonoco in January 2005, I worked for 10 years for an international appliances company. My first four years at Sonoco were dedicated to human resources activities in South America, with units in Chile, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil. I recently relocated to the U.S., where I joined the corporate human resources team. Currently, I lead Sonoco’s organizational development activities.
I studied social communication for my bachelor’s degree and my Master’s degree is in Human Resources. I am a native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English and Spanish, and have some communication skills in German.
On-the-job
Sonoco’s organizational development (OD) activities and processes focus on developing employees globally, regardless of their sector. This includes performance management, talent review, training programs, assessments and customized development programs. Our key drivers are effectively identifying employees with high potential, succession planning and managing talent globally, and providing appropriate avenues for the development of key employees.
Off-the-job
I spend most of my free time in outdoor activities and traveling. I enjoy traveling to a new country to learn about its culture and people, as well as visiting small towns close to home to find out more about local treasures.
Most memorable moments
What I love the most about my job in Human Resources is that I have the opportunity to help others develop, professionally and personally, along with the privilege of watching it happen. Sonoco isn’t one of those companies that just talks about valuing employees; it demonstrates its commitment to employees and belief that people build businesses daily.
