Fiona
Senior Account Representative
Industrial
My previous employment focused on customer service and teaching, which led me to sales. I worked several years in French environments (Nice, France and Montmagny, Quebec, Canada) trying to become fluent in French. After graduating from the University of Guelph in 1995, I began working as a bilingual customer service representative for George Pettinos Canada Ltd., an industrial sand supplier. The company was acquired, changed its name to Opta Minerals Inc. and I moved into outside technical sales in 2004. I pursued and was hired for a field sales position at Sonoco’s Mississauga, Ontario, Industrial Products plant in April 2008.
On-the-job
I sell paperboard tubes and cores to the film, tape, paper, tissue, metal and packaging industries in Ontario and upstate New York. My passion for this job stems from the fact it requires technical sales skills—my knowledge and understanding of the application of the product I sell is key to the overall level of service Sonoco and I provide. I also enjoy being in a position that is so connected to all areas of operations (accounting, plant management, quality, customer service, etc).
Off-the-job
I try to maintain a good balance in life: spirit, mind and body. I live in the heart of wine country in the Niagara region of Ontario, and spend my free time biking and jogging past the vineyards and farms in the country when weather permits. In the off season I usually fight the long winters by hosting dinner parties and sampling the local reds. I enjoy time at home with my husband and Radio-Canada, which plays an excellent mix of jazz, classical, French and world music.
