Director, Financial Analysis
Industrial Converted Products North America
I joined Sonoco’s Internal Audit staff in 1988 after spending four years with the a public accounting firm. Since joining Sonoco, I have held various positions of increasing responsibility within finance and spent a one year assignment in the company’s Operating Excellence group.
I currently serve as the director of financial analysis for the North American Converted Products group that is comprised of Industrial Carriers North America (tubes, cores and reels), Protective Packaging and Paperboard Specialties. I joined the Industrial Carriers team in 2003 after two years as director of administrative productivity and seven years as the financial manager for Protective Packaging.
My career with Sonoco has provided challenging work assignments focused on ways to deliver more shareholder value while offering professional growth and advancement. In my current role, I enjoy working with multiple functional areas to understand how to help the business achieve its objectives. I have been very fortunate over my career to have worked with people who have been very generous in sharing their knowledge, wisdom and friendship with me.
I serve on the board of several nonprofit organizations in the Hartsville community. Public service is a passion of mine and an obligation I feel strongly about. My wife and three daughters keep me pretty busy on weekends when I’m not on the golf course.
Most memorable moments
I have had many opportunities over the years to visit numerous Sonoco locations throughout the world and have always been amazed at the level of shared values and generosity of the people. On a visit to plant in northwest France, my host took my cycling through the country side. Cycling through small French villages seemed like offer too good to pass up. However, what I remember most was how tired I was after a 30-mile ride and trying to keep up with someone twice my age.
