• Sonoco’s Kleenex Tissue Cup composite can, Lipton Tea to Go iced tea mix flexible stick pack, smooth plastic retort bottle for Cool Java read—to-drink coffee and Readifoods Tesco Temptations Fruit and Snack Mix Sono-wrap paperboard canister were named finalists in the PACK EXPO Selects awards program.
• The Pee Dee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America named Sonoco Chairman, President and CEO Harris E. DeLoach, Jr. its 2006 Distinguished Citizen.
• Rhodia Latin America selected Sonoco do Brazil as its 2006 Packaging Supplier of the Year from among its 1,495 suppliers. The award was presented in October by Latin American Rhodia President Marcos De Marchi, who said the annual award is granted as a result of a meticulous assessment of the supplier's products and services.

September 2006

• The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) named Sonoco the 2006 South Carolina Large Manufacturer of the Year. The award was based on a rigorous review of the company's improved quality of products, quality of life for employees, environmental stewardship, community and professional involvement and partnerships.

August 2006

• The revolutionary Snack ‘n Seal™ easy opening and reclosable flexible packaging system that Sonoco developed in coordination with customer Kraft Foods Inc., launched on Chips Ahoy!^® Chewy cookies received a coveted Gold Award in the 19^th annual DuPont Awards Competition.
• Sonoco was recently named #17 on the Flexible Packaging Association’s Top 25 Converters of Flexible Packaging in North America list. The Company was #18 in 2005.

June 2006

• Sonoco was ranked 217 on the Industry Week U.S. 500, a list of the nation’s largest manufacturers by revenue. Sonoco was ranked 225 last year.

May 2006

• Sonoco was listed 540 on Fortune magazine's list of the top 1000 largest investor-owned companies in the United States. Sonoco's sales growth of nearly 12% in 2005 was the second largest in the packaging and containers sector. Last year, the Company was 544 on the list.
• The Gravure Association of America honored Sonoco in May 2006, with two Golden Cylinder Awards.
• Readifoods' Tesco Temptations fruit and snack mixes, which are packaged in Sonoco's innovative Sono-wrap single-wrap paper canisters, received the prestigious Grocer Own Label Excellence Award in the U.K.
• Sonoco Phoenix was one of 19 companies presented a Supplier Excellence Award by Abbot, a global healthcare company. Winners were chosen from more than 25,000 worldwide suppliers based on outstanding performance and continuous improvement in supplying materials, equipment and services.
• South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and First Lady Jenny Sanford recognized Sonoco for successfully working to improve the health of its employees and the community with a 2006 Healthy South Carolina Challenge community award.

April 2006

• For the fourth consecutive year, Sonoco won the ACI Gold Award in the Product/Supply Category and the ACI Gold Supplier of the Year Award.
• Sonoco was named one of Mergent's Dividend Achievers for 2006, a select list of companies whose outstanding dividend record make them excellent investment opportunities. Achievers have delivered dividend increases to shareholders for 10 or more consecutive years. Sonoco is one of only 3% of publicly traded companies to meet the stringent criteria to make the achievers list.

March 2006

• Sonoco was recognized by the Packaging and Label Gravure Association for two flexible packages featuring the Company's new SonoMet printing technology.
• Sonoco CorrFlex received one gold, one silver and two bronze awards at Point-of-Purchase Advertising International's 2005 Outstanding Merchandising Awards (OMAs) Gala.

• Sonoco was listed on KLD Indexes' Domini 400 Social Index, a float-adjusted market capitalization weighted common stock index of 400 U.S. companies demonstrating leadership in corporate and social responsibility.
