 Barbara Regional quality engineer Paper
back to diversity or
back to the women of Sonoco
|
|
Overview I started with Sonoco on Dec. 4, 2007, making my term just over 20 months. I currently serve as regional quality engineer and I am based in Hartsville, S.C. Before joining Sonoco, I worked for Rock-Tenn Company in Dallas, Texas.
On-the-job
I am responsible for quality and customer service for the paper machines in Hartsville. We have six cylinder machines and I have three machines in my area. I have been making paper for almost 30 years. I have had many mentors, but I have to give the most credit to God for always being there for me.
Off-the-job Fortunately, my position with Sonoco enables me to have fairly flexible work hours. This allows me to meet the needs of my family.
Most memorable moments One most memorable moment was the birth of my son.
On the business side, a memorable moment occurred when I was a member of the TAPPI board of directors. One of our projects was the funding of an exhibit, Forests for Our Future, at Walt Disney World’s Epcott Center. When it opened, we had a meeting there to view the exhibit and I was able to take my son. |
