Overview
I joined Sonoco in 1984 as an entry-level accountant. I've had various jobs over the last 25 years, moving from treasurer to division vice president and general manager for Sonoco’s second largest customer. Just recently, I was promoted to a corporate officer and assumed responsibility for five more of Sonoco’s largest customers, whose sales total approximately $850 million annually.
On-the-job
I work with some of the most caring and smartest people I’ve ever met, and Sonoco’s unique corporate culture breeds success. Yes, I’ve worked really hard, but have always enjoyed what I was doing and the people I worked with.
Off-the-job
Working for Sonoco allowed me to have both a career and a family. I’m an avid tennis player, involved in my church and serve on several boards in our community. My family loves to boat on the lake in Hartsville and travel to the beach or mountains.
Most memorable moments
When I wanted to attend Duke University’s Global MBA program, which required significant worldwide travel, Sonoco sponsored me. In 2003, Sonoco asked me to participate in an extensive Leadership Assessment process, which led me to realize that my skills included more than just finance. Sonoco is an amazing company to work for in so many ways.
