The Challenge

Sam’s Club wanted to launch a new men’s razor to compete with national brands and deliver incredible value to its members.

Package Development

Teaming up with Sam's Club packaging engineers, Sonoco and Dorco worked together to create an end-to-end-solution from the ground up.

Artwork Management

Packaging artwork was managed by our team of graphics experts, turning the brand’s visuals into accurate, printable artwork making the process faster, more accurate, simpler and more efficient.

Material Manufacturing

Sam’s Club relied on sister divisions, Sonoco Alloyd and Sonoco Display and Packaging for turnkey, end-to-end material manufacturing of all packaging components including the folding carton with clamshell and point-of-purchase display materials.

Primary Packaging

Sonoco Alloyd produced the primary packaging consisting of two components––a custom thermoformed PET clamshell and an SBS folding carton with foil for quick and easy assembly. The final package provided Sam’s Club members a clear, unobstructed view of the product.

Display Design

Sonoco Display and Packaging designed and engineered two launch vehicles–– a Club Tray and Pallet Display–– used to introduce Sam’s Club Members to the new Duraglide Razor Kit. A Duraglide 6 razor was tethered to the communication box on the club tray with a retractable security cable that allowed shoppers to experience the substantial feel and ergonomic handle of the razor and to closely inspect the razor cartridges.

Display Material and Fulfillment

The manufactured Duraglide 6 display components were sent directly from our manufacturing plants to our adjacent fulfillment center for assembly and pack-out. As the displays were designed in tandem with the primary package, to stand upright within PDQ tray without the need for additional protective fillers, the number of protective components required and assembly times were drastically reduced. Primary packaging kits, vacuum trays, club trays and pallet displays were shipped to Sam’s Club distribution centers.
