Chesterfield, UK – Sonoco is pleased to confirm its attendance at Packaging Innovations & Empack, Birmingham, 21 to 22 February 2024 (Stand R22, hall 6). At the event, Sonoco will showcase its leading rigid paperboard packaging solutions: GREENCAN® and more. Sonoco’s Gravy paperboard drum solution, which won Supply Chain Solution of the Year at the 2022 UK Packaging Awards, will also be on display. Sonoco’s sustainable packaging solutions have gained recognition for their innovative designs and high recyclability.
Recyclable by design, Sonoco’s rigid paperboard container is made of up to 85% recycled material. The can body is made with recycled fibre and the solution features a highly effective oxygen and moisture barrier layer, which assures food safety and preserves shelf-life, while ensuring ease of recycling through the household paper and cardboard stream.
At the event, Sonoco will exhibit its newest and largest size paper end solution, which is 153mm in diameter.
Other Sonoco paper container sizes (with diameters of 73mm, 99mm and 140mm) will also be showcased.
The wide variety of closures available for use with our paper containers including paper lids and sprinkler options – will also be exhibited on the Sonoco stand.
The GREENCAN® recyclable paperboard package is made of 92-98% paperboard and features a wide range of barrier properties. Available in multiple shapes and sizes – from round, square or rectangular; to oval, oblong or triangular – it is ‘designed to recycle’ paper can, providing a highly recyclable packaging solution, with robust barrier properties.
GREENCAN® also features an integrated paper lid, so when empty, the whole package can go through the household paper recycling stream without any need to disassemble it. This makes it simple and convenient for the consumer and for the whole recycling process.
Sonoco’s paper can ranges have a lower weight and reduced environmental footprint than comparably sized metal cans or other rigid packaging types.
The containers are suitable for the food and drink, beauty and pharma markets, and are already used by some of the most iconic global brands.
