Sonoco’s new EnviroCan®, featuring a paper bottom, is an all-paper container made to meet diverse packaging needs. With multiple sizes and premium shelf appeal, these paper tube containers are an excellent choice for brands that want convenience, versatility, and recyclability.
Ideal for portion packs to large volume formats, all-paper containers come in a variety of sizes to fit your product:
Various labeling options are available with multiple material substrates and printing styles for dynamic shelf appeal.
All-paper cans are lined with barrier protection to keep oxygen and moisture out while maintaining the freshness of the contents inside. Sonoco offers low, medium and high barrier coatings inside the paper tube and peelable paper membranes to preserve your product.
The multiple layers are wound with 100% recycled paperboard, create a rigidity that withstands handling, stacking and external pressure while protecting delicate contents from breakage.
All-paper containers are made with 100% recycled fiber, with up to 90% coming from post-consumer resources, eliminating the necessity for virgin fibers and actively contributing to the reversal of deforestation practices. The EnviroCan® with a Paper Bottom successfully passed the Repulpability and the Recyclability tests at Western Michigan University, yielding more than 85% recovered fiber and proving that it did not affect resulting product performance. Many of Sonoco’s paper mills are certified by one or more fiber certification programs, including:
Sonoco makes our rigid paper containers with up to 90% recycled fiber. Not only does that help reduce our reliance on virgin fiber content, it also strengthens the viability of recycled fiber, helping to ensure the market demand and availability of recycled content for years to come.
Our rigid paper cans are easy for consumers to recycle. Simply empty, remove the plastic lid, and place into the recycling bin!
Compatible with mixed or paper recycling streams, our all paper containers are "curbside collectable," meaning municipalities with paper can recycling programs can easily collect them.
Processing Paper into Paper – In traditional paper mills, the fiber from our rigid paper cans is recovered and converted into paperboard, which is then used to create new products, including new paper cans. Enhanced mills extend the pulping process, allowing for a broader variety of paper materials to be recycled effectively.
Not only are Sonoco all paper cans made with recycled fiber, by being easily recyclable and compatible with the current recycling infrastructure, they are one of the most circular, sustainable types of packaging available in the market today. In fact, the EnviroCan® with a Paper Bottom was awarded the 2024 PAC Global Best in Class for Sustainable Package Design for Package Circularity.
