Twist-Lok Plastic Spools

Save space with Twist-Lok® plastic spools

Empty reels take up a lot of valuable space when shipped or stored. Sonoco’s three-piece Twist-Lok plastic spools ship disassembled, delivering more spools per truckload and taking up less warehouse space. The spools assemble and disassemble by hand in seconds—without tools. Just insert the drum into the flanges and twist to lock in place. To disassemble, simply lift the locking tabs on the flanges and twist again.

Recyclable Plastic Spools Need No Tools

Available for food-contact applications, Twist-Lok spools are ideal for lighter materials such as food package zip-closures and foam sealing strips, hook and loop fastener tapes, and other lighter-weight cordage.

Twist-Lok spools are made of recyclable plastic and take up 70% less storage and shipping space than assembled spools.

Plastic Taper Reels

Sonoco injection molded plastic taper reels feature smooth plastic flanges that assist in high-speed de-reeling, minimizing flange deflection and reducing the possibility of trapped wire.

The three-piece bolted construction enhances the possibility of reuse since damaged components can be replaced. All reel components are recyclable, providing savings and sustainable benefits.

Additional features include start and finish holes in the flanges and a Dura-Grip barrel finish to prevent movement of the initial layer of wire on the tapered barrel.

Technical Specifications

Molded in standard high-impact styrene and ABS, our 50 lb. and 100 lb. plastic taper reels are ideal for shipping medium- to fine-gauge magnet wire, as well as other copper and plated copper conductors. The reel’s tapered barrel is designed to prevent wire tangling, and an optional Dura-Grip finish can be applied to the barrel to hold the initial startup wire in place.

Plastic taper reels with carrying capacities of 250 lbs., 550 lbs., 750 lbs., and 1000 lbs. are also available. With superior winding and de-reeling properties, these plastic reels provide the wire industry the optimal approach to modern packaging.
